Certificate of Interment Rights: The city treasurer’s receipt document by which the cemetery conveys to the owner the exclusive burial right in a particular grave or niche or the nonexclusive right in the scattering garden upon receipt of full payment.
Companion Grave: One grave of a double depth and sold to accept the interment of two human remains; one interment above the other.
Dome/Liner/Vault: A rigid outer burial container used to surround a casket or a cremated remains container.
Final Date: The engraving of the date of death on the burial marker.
Infant Burial Plot: May be used when a casket is no more than 45 inches wide and 36 inches long.

Niche: A space used or intended to be used for inurnment of cremated human remains.
Opening/Closing: The process of excavating the burial plot to make the space for an interment and then putting earth back to fill the excavated space after the interment.

Vase: A belowground container in which flowers or other memorabilia may be placed. Items not in an approved vase are subject to removal.
