There are circumstances when an applicant does not agree with an interpretation of the codes, ordinances or procedures as it may pertain to their project. It is always best that the applicant work directly with their assigned plan reviewer or inspector to resolve the conflict. Most issues can be resolved with good communication and a clear explanation of the applicable codes and requirements.
Supervisors are also available to assist when a satisfactory resolution can’t be reached. Please have a permit or plan review number ready when contacting management staff.
You also have the right to contact the Building Safety Director/Building Official, if you still are not satisfied. The Building Official interprets the code, and has the authority to adopt policies and procedures in order to clarify the application of the code. Most issues can be resolved at this point, but decisions of the Building Official can be appealed to the Board of Adjustment per Chapter 9, Article II, Section 114.1 of the Glendale City Code.
