Barrel District - Meet Vice Mayor Yvonne J. Knaack
Vice Mayor Yvonne Knaack was elected in November 2006 to represent the Barrel District, was re-elected and began her second term in January 2011, and was appointed as Glendale’s first female Vice Mayor in February 2013. She is dedicated to maintaining and improving Glendale neighborhoods. She has worked and owned a business in Glendale since 1970 and has been a resident since 1984. National Register of Historic Places
Thunderbird Estates / McDonald Addition subdivision, located between Northern Ave. and Royal Palm Rd. from 57th Dr. to 59th Ave., is the first Barrel District neighborhood to become eligible to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The nomination was considered by the State Historic Site Selection Committee in late January. At that time the committee recommended to the State Historic Preservation Officer that the nomination be sent to the Keeper of the National Register. The Keeper makes the final determination to list or reject the nomination on the National Register. 48 properties were nominated as typifying the Ranch House of Post World War II. |
