SilverSneakers® is here at the Glendale Adult Center
The Glendale Adult Center encourages those passholders whose healthcare plans offer the SilverSneakers® benefit to choose us as one of their preferred locations. SilverSneakers® is offered to older adults to help them take greater control of their health by encouraging physical activity and offering social events. By choosing the Glendale Adult Center as one of your preferred locations, SilverSneakers® members can receive a GAC membership which entitles members to the use of the billiards area, computer lab, exercise programs (low, medium and high intensity), baseball darts, belly dancing, bridge, chess, grab bag bingo, floor and tabletop shuffleboard, pinochle, ping pong, senior jeopardy challenge, scrabble club, card & game room, Wii bowling, knitting and sewing clubs (experience required), weekly movies, ceramics and more.
Setting up your SilverSneakers® account with the Glendale Adult Center is as easy as 1-2-3:
- Just bring in your SilverSneakers® member ID card or we can verify your eligibility with your legal name and birthdate.
- Complete a SilverSneakers® Waiver.
- We'll set up your Glendale Adult Center SilverSneakers® membership.
And that's it! You're all set (for as long as you are eligible for SilverSneakers®) and able to use the center during any of the hours of operation just by scanning your pass when entering the facility.
Monday, Wednesday and Friday • Room 107
First come, first served. A video may replace instructor. Included with GAC membership, with no additional fees.
- Body Fusion • 8:15 a.m. (60 min.)
Basic step. Cardio-step routines combining HIGH INTENSITY intervals using weights, bands, and balls followed with stretch/balance.
- Total Body • 9:30 a.m. (45 min.)
Low impact aerobics/medium intensity followed by toning exercises using bands, balls, and hand weights. During the mat exercises, you may request alternative chair exercises that are just as effective.
- Functionally Fit • 10:30 a.m. (45 min.)
Low to no impact with low/medium intensity using a chair, light weights, bands, and balls. Every exercise is focused on building strength, flexibility, balance and stability to prevent injuries, or recover from injuries/surgery and to continue to live functionally fit.
- SilverSneakers® Classic • 1 p.m. (55 min.)
Have fun and move to music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activity for daily living skills. Handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
- Zumba Gold • 2 p.m. (55 min.)
This class is for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower intensity. Come ready to sweat and prepare to leave empowered and feeling strong! Instructor: Cyndi Picker
T’ai Chi – Essentials
1 p.m., Tuesdays
$5 drop-in rate non-members
Discover 5 easy-to-learn exercises taken directly from the Tai Chi form. Exercises are designed to help improve balance, relaxation, flexibility, strength, and body awareness. Adapted for people of all ages, especially those who do not want to learn the entire Tai Chi form, but still want the benefits. Instructor: Charlie Gill
2:15 to 3:15 p.m., Tuesdays/Thursdays

Take a deep breath, relax your mind, and join us as we expand our physical and mental flexibility. This beginner level yoga class uses techniques to activate the body while simultaneously releasing tension in the jaw, neck, shoulders, arms, fingers, hips, legs, feet and toes. We focus on gently stretching on the floor then working our way to standing in balancing positions. Let’s take a journey to stretching further, breathing deeper, and feeling better from the inside out. Instructor: Sara Hernandez.
3:30 to 4:30 p.m., Tuesdays/Thursdays

Ditch the workout, join the party, and be ready to get your sweat on! We take the work out of workout by going through a series of calorie-burning steps in this pumped-up dance party. If it’s your first time joining the fun, then you’re in the right place. Remember to keep moving, breathing, and of course, smiling. I encourage letting loose, being real, and I won’t stop until I teach you how to move to the music and feel free. I will lead you there. Let’s get started! Instructor: Sara Hernandez.
