Violent Crimes Squad

The Violent Crimes Squad at the Glendale Police Department is assigned to the General Investigations Unit of the Criminal Investigations Division.  The squad is comprised of (7) case-carrying Detectives, (1) Sergeant, (1) Case Manager, and (1) Victim’s Advocate.  Types of criminal cases investigated by this squad of detectives include Homicides and other death related investigations, Aggravated and Simple Assaults, along with Violations of Court Orders that are non-domestic violence related.

Persons from the community who would like to provide information about unsolved crimes investigated by this squad are encouraged to call the Violent Crimes Squad tip line, 623-930-3399.  Information can also be provided via the Silent Witness Web site at www.silentwitness.org.

The detectives always preferred to know the name of the person providing information about crime, however, persons who provide information can remain anonymous if they wish.

Victims of these types of crimes who would like to inquire about the status of their case are encouraged to contact the assigned detective for updates or information pertaining to their case.

Victims who do not know which detective is assigned to their case should contact the squad case manager, who has the responsibility of reviewing police reports and, if warranted, assigning the matter to a detective for completion.  The Violent Crimes Squad Case Manager is Maria Vita, who can be reached at 623-930-3256 or MVita@glendaleaz.com.

The following list of detectives, along with their direct phone number and email address, are available for use by victims who are already aware of which detective is assigned to their case.  Please be patient for a response as the detectives work hours and assignments are very demanding and occasionally change with little advance notice.   Each detective’s primary caseload is indicated, however the detectives are cross trained to assist each other and frequently conduct investigations outside of their normal assignment.
