Police Seeking Witnesses to Shooting

GLENDALE, Ariz. – Detectives from the Glendale Police Department are seeking information about a murder that took place in the early hours of Saturday morning (9/8). Manuel Montoya-Duran (22 yrs, of Phoenix) was shot and killed as he was driving in the area of 75th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.
At about 1:00 a.m. Saturday, Mr. Montoya-Duran left a friend’s home near 43rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road. He was speaking to his friend on his cell phone while he drove west on Bethany Home. Between 59th and 75th Avenues, Mr. Montoya-Duran commented to his friend that he thought he was being followed by a dark-colored sedan. He thought that it might be a Honda. As Mr. Montoya-Duran turned to go south on 75th Avenue, his vehicle was hit by several gunshots. Mr. Montoya-Duran was shot in the head, and was killed. |

Mr. Montoya-Duran was driving a red Chevy Cobalt. The dark-colored sedan is considered a possible suspect vehicle. “We are looking at several possibilities about what happened that night,” said Det. Brad McMillen. “It is important for us to speak with anyone who saw or heard anything. This will help us to either include or exclude several investigative leads that we are looking at.”
