Glendale Police Communications Division

The Glendale Police Communications Division is on vigilant watch to handle all 911 and non-emergency calls for the citizens and visitors of Glendale 24 hours a day, each day of the year. The 30 Communications Specialists and Supervisors handle an average of 600,000 calls per year via 911 and 7-digit non-emergency lines and entered approximately 152,000 calls for police response in 2006. 911 calls for police are evaluated, prioritized and assigned for dispatch while fire and medical related calls are forwarded to the Phoenix Fire Regional Communication Center for dispatch of medical or fire personnel.

The Communications Division utilizes state of the art radio and telephone equipment to ensure public safety as well as the safety of nearly 400 officers protecting the streets of Glendale daily. The 10-channel, 800 Mhz radio system is combined with a Computer Aided Dispatch module that corresponds with mobile data computer terminals in each patrol car. Communications Specialists also monitor specialized equipment that keeps Glendale citizens safe, including the ShotSpotter gunshot location system, National Crime Information Center computer system, and other sensitive law enforcement tools.

In addition to these duties, Communications processes all information requests from police officers concerning vehicle registration, driver’s license and warrant queries, and entries of stolen property and missing persons into the NCIC system. These everyday heroes go beyond their roles within the Communications Center to work city Mega Events for the University of Phoenix Stadium and Jobing.com Arena as well as dispatch for specialty enforcement and response squads within the Police Department.

The Glendale Police Department Communications Division can be reached by telephone on emergency and non-emergency phone lines 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. In cases of emergency dealing with both police and fire service, callers should dial 911. For all other non-emergency police calls citizens are encouraged to dial 623-930-3000.
