2014 Arizona Cardinals/NFL
Punt, Pass & Kick Competition

Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Foothills Sports Complex, 19070 N. 57th Ave.
(57th Ave & just north of Union Hills on field #1 and #2
)
(postponed from Sept. 9 due to wet fields)

NFL Punt Pass KickThis is a national skills competition in which girls and boys in five separate age divisions compete against each other in punting, passing and placekicking in a fun and engaging forum. Scores are based on distance and accuracy. This program is FREE for boys and girls ages 6-15. Onsite registration begins at 5 p.m. sharp and the competitions begin at 6 p.m.

Winners from the local competition will advance on to the sectional competition to be held on Sunday, November 2nd at the Sahuaro Ranch Main soccer field, 59th Ave and Mountain View. Only the top four boys and girls first place finishers in each age bracket from the pool of Sectional competition champions will advance to the Team Championships at the Cardinal Stadium to be held during a regular season home game. “Miracle Group" Performance by Palo Verde Players
7 p.m., Friday, September 19, at the Glendale Adult Center, 5970 W. Brown St.
Enjoy a free, funny performance of playwright Sy Rosen's "The Miracle Group" by the Palo Verde Players. Directed by T.V. Reeves, this Readers Theatre style performance portrays a diverse group of strangers gathered at an adult extension class to share some of the most bizarre and hilarious events of their lives. The show will start with the zany, clean comedy of local comedian Raina Morice. Come prepared to laugh! Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

37th Annual Saguaro Astronomy Club
Public Star Party
Saturday, Oct. 4, at Thunderbird Conservation Park, 67th Ave and Patrick Ln.

(3/4 mile north of Deer Valley Rd)
TelescopeMembers of the Saguaro Astronomy Club will have large and small telescopes set up and available for public viewing from 6 to 9:30 p.m. (sunset 6:09 p.m.). They will show a variety of astronomical objects including the moon, planets, stars, galaxies and deep sky wonders. Club volunteers will be glad to answer questions you may have about the heavens and astronomy in general. Weather permitting, please join us for a night under the stars! Sponsored by Glendale Parks and Recreation and hosted by the Saguaro Astronomy Club.

Foothills Neighborhood Halloween Event
Friday, Oct. 24, 6 to 8 p.m., at Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center, 5600 W. Union Hills Dr.
Halloween kidsChildren, ages 10 and younger, can load up on candy at the Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center and enjoy an evening of activities, including carnival games, photo opportunities, temporary tattoos, train rides (additional cost), costume parade and arts and crafts. Absolute Rhythm Dance Company will be on site with a “Thriller” dance performance. Admission can be purchased the night of the event for $4 ($5 non-residents). Not So Scary Halloween Luncheon

Pumpkin and batJoin your fellow ghosts and goblins for this Glendale Adult Center annual favorite. Enjoy a morning of fun, food and entertainment by “Scary Mary." Lunch will include fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, string beans, dinner roll and cake. Also featured will be a costume contest. $6 members, $8 non-members. 8th Annual Santa’s Workshop
Saturday, Dec. 13, 10 a.m. to noon, at Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center, 5600 W. Union Hills Dr.
Santa hatKids of all ages are invited to this special event where they can purchase holiday presents (everything is $2) for their friends, family or even their pets. A store will be set up with a variety of items sure to make everyone happy. Santa’s elves will be on site to wrap their selection in holiday wrapping paper.
