CAPRA provides quality assurance and quality improvement of accredited park and recreation agencies throughout the United States. CAPRA is the only national accreditation of park and recreation agencies, and is a valuable measure of an agency’s overall quality of operation, management, and service to the community.
Parks and Recreation - Beer Permits
A beer permit is required to consume beer in a City of Glendale park.
For consumption of alcoholic beverages other than beer (wine, spirituous liquor) in any public place (except licensed premises), a special event license must be obtained from the State Liquor Board with the approval of the City Council.
To obtain a Beer Permit:
Beer Permits must be purchased in person at one of the following locations:
Glendale Parks and Recreation Office -
inside the Glendale Adult Center at 5970 W. Brown St.
(Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.)
Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center - 5600 W. Union Hills
(Monday-Friday, 5:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.; Saturday, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.)
Permits must be obtained 24 hours in advance of the event and may be made up to one year in advance of the scheduled event. Payment for permits must be received at the time the permit application is made.
The size of the group determines the number of permits that are required for the event.
Applicants must provide photo identification as proof of age (21 years or older).

Beer Permit Guidelines
The permit holder must restrict their consumption of beer to the specific area(s) designated on the permit.
The permit holder will be responsible for ensuring all members of his/her group are of legal age to drink beer, according to Arizona State Law
The permit holder will be responsible for the conduct of all group members. The permit holder must be present during the event.
The permit holder will be responsible for depositing litter in the proper receptacles after the event is completed.
No glass containers are allowed in city parks. Plastic cups must be clearly identifiable as containing beer.
The permit holder must retain the copy of the approved permit and make it available upon request for inspection of Glendale police or park ranger.
Park hours of operation must be observed.
Obnoxious behavior or excessive noise will not be permitted.
The sale of beer in city parks is strictly prohibited, except under a special event liquor license issued by the State of Arizona
Issuance of a beer permit does not guarantee a ramada or any additional type of reservation.
Beer permits will not be issued in conjunction with youth events and/or certain types of facility reservations (pools, facility allocation program, etc.).
Beer permits are not transferable and non-refundable.
Failure to comply with park regulations may forfeit the right to receive permits in the future. Permits are revocable at any time for violation of rule, ordinance, or state law.
