Parks & Recreation - Adult Sports

League SIGN UP takes place at the Parks & Recreation office, 5850 W. Glendale Ave., 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the dates noted under each sport. Parks & Recreation does not place individuals on teams for these sports, but individuals may be listed on a Free Agent List made available to teams short on players. If you would like to be placed on the Free Agent List or have any questions about the Adult Sports program, please contact Mike D. at 623-930-2841. To participate in Social Softball or Racquetball, please refer to the information under each of those sports. All participants in the Adult Sports program must be age 18 or older.

Glendale residents must show proof of residency. Proof must show address and be current within 60 days. Examples include driver’s license, water bill, etc. (Teams will pay the maximum non-resident fee until proof of residency is verified, then a refund will be issued for the appropriate amount. Refunds take 7-10 business days).

Adult Fall SOFTBALL Leagues ——————————————————————

SIGN UP (Organizational Meeting):
Monday, August 11, at the City Council Chambers, 5850 W. Glendale Ave.
Returning teams, 6 p.m.; New teams, 7 p.m.
Teams represented by a manager or team player during the entire meeting will receive a $50 off coupon for league sign up. Meeting topics will include league format, rule changes, sign up and lottery information. SIGN UP PACKETS will be available at the Glendale Parks & Recreation office, 5850 W. Glendale Ave., beginning August 12. For more information, call 623-930-2841.
Roster and Temporary Receipt Deadlines: Returning teams roster and temporary receipt will be due upon registration August 12–20 in the Parks and Recreation office, 5850 W. Glendale Ave. Glendale, AZ 85301 (weekdays only). New team packet with roster and temporary receipt are due Wednesday, August 20, by 5 p.m. New team registration/lottery will be held Saturday, August 23.
Confirm residents: New teams who choose to be a resident team may call 623-930-2841 on or after August 20 to confirm team’s residency status.
Returning teams: $475 • Glendale Resident Teams: $475 • Non-resident Teams: $565. (Includes 14 double-header, regular-season games; double-elimination tournament; administrative fees; softballs; lights; awards for winning teams; ASA sanction fee; officials and field staff.) A $50 off coupon is available to teams who attend the organizational meeting.
Number of Teams: Leagues are based on 8 maximum, 6 minimum. If leagues do not fill, teams will be placed in another league if space permits.
Format/Days/Locations: Teams play a double-header format one night a week at the following times and locations. (SRP = Sahuaro Ranch Park, 63rd & Mountain View Rd., PRC = Paseo Racquet Center, 63rd Ave & Thunderbird Rd.).

Men’s Senior SOFTBALL League ——————————————————————
Men ages 50 and over are encouraged to enter. Players must turn 50 by December 31, 2008. Sign up is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Glendale Resident Teams (Minimum of four Glendale residents): $390 • Non-Resident Teams: $470. (Includes 14 double header, regular-season games; double elimination tournament; administrative fees; softballs; lights; awards for winning teams; ASA sanction fees; officials and site staff.)
Mandatory Managers Meeting: Thursday, September 4, at 6:45 p.m, in room B-2 of the City Hall Complex, 5850 W. Glendale Ave. All teams are required to have one representative at this meeting. Any team not represented will forfeit their first two scheduled games.
Days/Location: Wednesday evenings at Sahuaro Ranch Park, 63rd Ave. and Mountain View Rd.
Number of Teams: 8 maximum.

Adult Coed KICKBALL League ——————————————————————
SIGN UP: August 25–29
Begins: Friday, September 12
Glendale Resident Teams (Minimum of four Glendale residents): $350 • Non-Resident Teams: $420. (Includes 14 regular-season games, double-elimination tournament, administrative fees, equipment, awards for winning teams, officials and site staff.)
Mandatory Managers Meeting: Thursday, September 4, at 6 p.m. in room B-2 of the City Hall Complex, 5850 W. Glendale Ave. All teams are required to have one representative at this meeting. Any team not represented will forfeit their first two scheduled games.
Days/Location: Friday evenings at Paseo Racquet Center, 63rd Ave. and Thunderbird Rd.
Number of Teams: 8 maximum.

Adult Men’s Recreational BASKETBALL League ——————————————————————

Begins: Tuesday, September 23
Glendale Resident Teams (Minimum of two Glendale residents): $390 • Non-Resident Teams: $470. (Includes 10 regular-season games, double-elimination tournament, administrative fees, equipment, lights, gym facility, awards for winning teams, officials and site staff.)
Mandatory Managers Meeting: Wednesday, September 17, at 6:45 p.m. in room B-2 of the City Hall Complex, 5850 W. Glendale Ave. All teams are required to have one representative at this meeting. Any team not represented will forfeit their first scheduled games.
Days/Location: Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Foothill Recreation and Aquatic Center, 5600 W. Union Hills Dr.
Number of Teams: 12 maximum, 6 minimum.

Sand Coed VOLLEYBALL League ——————————————————————
SIGN UP: September 2–5
Begins: Friday, September 26
Glendale Resident Teams (Minimum of two Glendale residents): $75 • Non-Resident Teams: $90. (Includes 21 regular-season games, tournament, administrative fees, sand courts with lights, awards–based on the number of teams registered–and site supervision.)
Mandatory Managers Meeting: Wednesday, September 17, at 6 p.m. in room B–2 of the City Hall Complex, 5850 W. Glendale Ave. All teams are required to have one representative at this meeting. Any team not represented at the meeting will forfeit their first scheduled game.
Days/Location/Format: Friday evenings at Sahuaro Ranch Park, 9802 N. 59th Ave. League is round-robin play with season-ending tournament.

Adult 4 Man Flag FOOTBALL League ——————————————————————
SIGN UP: September 2–5
Begins: Sunday, September 14
Glendale Resident Teams (Minimum of three Glendale residents): $265 • Non-Resident Teams: $320. (Includes 10 regular-season games, double-elimination tournament, administrative fees, equipment, lights, awards for winning teams, officials and site staff.)
Mandatory Managers Meeting: Thursday, September 11, at 6 p.m. in room B-2 at the City Hall Complex, 5850 W. Glendale Ave. All teams are required to have one representative at this meeting. Any team not represented will forfeit their first scheduled game.
Days/Location: Sundays at the Sahuaro Ranch Park main soccer field, 9802 N. 59th Ave.
Number of Teams: 16 maximum, 8 minimum.

WIFFLEBALL WORLD SERIES ——————————————————————

Sahuaro Ranch Park Softball Complex, 63rd Ave. & Mountain View Rd.

Features both competitive and recreation divisions with rules to accommodate both the competitive and recreational player.
DIVISIONS:

  • Competitive: This division is for the serious player and has no pitching speed restrictions. Participants may use aluminum Wiffle Ball bats (teams must use their own bats in this division). Pitchers are permitted to scuff the ball; however, both teams will be given the opportunity to use the same ball during the game.
  • Recreational: This division is for the player who wants to play the game the way it was played while growing up. In this division, players will use moderate pitching speeds and the plastic Wiffle Ball bats provided. Teams will not be permitted to scuff the game ball.

Round-robin play is followed by double- elimination tournaments in both divisions. All teams guaranteed four scheduled games. All teams receive four quality tournament t-shirts. Glendale Parks and Recreation will provide game balls for all games. The number of teams registered in each division will determine award packages.

$75 per team
