Cardinal Stadium

Getting to the Game

The city of Glendale offers the following tips for the best fan experience

The new state-of-the-art University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. is officially here. The city of Glendale has worked diligently for months in preparation for the opening of the new Cardinals Stadium, developing multiple traffic plans to help safely guide people to and from Glendale and the city’s sports and entertainment district. Now, as we move beyond the stadium’s inaugural events, we will continue to learn from each experience and offer a wonderful fan experience.

To help ensure a positive experience, sports goers, pedestrians and those commuting near the stadium on a game or event day should keep the following in mind:

  • Prepare before you leave the house. Know what routes are best to take before you hit the road. Click here to visit www.glendalesgotgame.com for regularly updated traffic information.
  • Leave early. Make sure you give yourself enough time to get to the stadium and find your parking area.
  • Read your placard. Be aware of the suggested routes provided on the back of your parking placard.
  • Follow the signs and officer directions. Signage and traffic control officials will be on hand for major sporting and entertainment events.
  • Get tips along the way. Utilize ADOT's 511 system for up-to-the-minute information on traffic conditions. (To access this service, call 511 on your cell phone. For more details on the 511 system, click here to visit ADOT's 511 traffic management informational Web site.)

By working together, we can create lasting memories that capture the exciting sports and entertainment experiences offered here in Glendale, Ariz.

Important Traffic Information for Week Night Game on Thursday, Aug. 31

Cardinals fans and regular Loop 101 commuters are being advised of heavy traffic expected on the Loop 101 from Northern Avenue to Camelback Road Thursday evening, August 31.

Cardinals fans need to review the specific parking and traffic instructions, as well as be aware of the suggested routes. “Fans should arrive early and pack their patience,” says Glendale Senior Principal Traffic Engineer Debbie Burdette. “Commuters who typically use Loop 101 should consider using an alternative route home between 4 and 7:30 p.m.”

Maps of parking lots and traffic routes are available on Glendale’s sports and information Web site, www.glendalesgotgame.com.

There are also minor traffic restrictions on Camelback between 73rd and 75th avenues, on Glendale Avenue between 99th Avenue and Glen Harbor Boulevard (west of Loop 101) and at the intersection of 67th and Glendale avenues.

To safely move pedestrians in the area, 95th Avenue west of the stadium and Maryland Avenue between 93rd and 95th avenues will be closed to vehicle traffic.

The city of Glendale has partnered with ADOT to ensure a smooth traffic flow for the stadium’s events. Visitors are encouraged to call 511 for updated traffic information. Glendale Police will be directing traffic to establish a safe and steady traffic flow. Follow traffic signs for direction.

For Neighborhoods

Heavy game day traffic is expected on 91st Avenue, so we recommend neighborhood residents avoid this street and instead use 83rd Avenue if possible.

Neighborhoods surrounding the stadium will be barricaded, restricting cut-through traffic beginning in the afternoon.  Click here to view a map of neighborhood barricades.

If you have questions, need additional vehicle placards for residents or have a guest to register, call the Zone A Hotline at 623-930-3214 or visit us on-line at www.glendalesgotgame.com
