‘Glendale’s Got Game’
Now Online!

City launches new Web site to keep residents and visitors informed about Glendale’s upcoming major sporting events

Are you ready for some football? The city of Glendale is definitely ready as the first kickoff draws closer. And in preparation of the big games coming to Glendale, the city is unveiling a new Web site aimed at keeping residents, visitors and businesses informed on how Glendale is planning for the upcoming national sporting events.

The site—www.GlendalesGotGame.com—was announced by Mayor Elaine Scruggs Saturday, March 25, at a community open house, which the city hosted as a way to inform residents about what is on tap for the next couple years.

What You’ll Find Online

The new site offers information on everything from transportation options in and around major events to volunteer opportunities within the community. Designed with a sporty theme, www.GlendalesGotGame.com will present visitors with a home page that features updated stories about Glendale’s major sporting events, traffic routes, the Cardinals Stadium, important dates and more. A top navigation offers more information categories, including:

  • Home Team Updates – A section just for residents, which will include neighborhood FAQs, volunteer opportunities and more.
  • A Visitors’ Section – A one-stop shop for tourists, including information on major city destinations, maps and a link to the city’s official tourism Web site—www.VisitGlendale.com.
  • A Pre-Game Section – As game time gets closer, this section will offer the nuts and bolts on things you need to know before heading out to a game, including parking, shuttles and tailgating zones.
  • Playbook – Transportation information, routes and maps will make up this section, which will also be easily accessible from a variety of pages throughout the site.
  • A Feedback Section – An opportunity for residents and online visitors to share their thoughts on what information they would like to see on this site in the future. E-mailed feedback will be used to create a future frequently asked questions section as well as other online services.
  • A Web Roster – An A-Z list of content currently on the site to allow browsers to find what they’re looking for fast.

More to Come

This site is just the latest in Glendale’s ongoing commitment to keeping the public informed before and throughout the city’s major sporting events.

The grand opening of University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. will take place in August, and the Arizona Cardinals will kick off their first season in Glendale this fall. Beginning next year, Glendale will host the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl annually and college football’s BCS Championship game every four years.

The first Tostitos Fiesta Bowl game will be played in Glendale on Jan. 1, 2007 and the BCS Championship game will be played one week later on Jan. 8, 2007. In addition, Glendale will be the host city for Super Bowl XLII on Feb. 3, 2008.
