Fields of Dreams
Glendale’s newest sports fields give kids the chance to compete right next to where the pros play
Soon, hundreds of proud parents will watch from the sidelines as their kids run the fields and score goals right in the shadows of the country’s newest state-of-the-art NFL stadium. These sentiments were celebrated Friday, Aug. 11, as officials from the city of Glendale, Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority and Fiesta Bowl dedicated a new youth sports complex next door to the new University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.
The fields were constructed in partnership with the Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority and Fiesta Bowl, who together donated $1.5 million toward the project.
When Glendale was chosen as the site of the new Cardinals Stadium, it was determined that a youth component be included as a feature to the area. Since that time, five fields have been developed to fill the community need for additional youth sporting opportunities in the West Valley.
The fields will provide a rare opportunity for young athletes to play, grow and learn in the shadow of a world-class stadium. The complex will also provide additional parking amenities to the new University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.
