October Hazardous Waste Collection Announced
Residents need to register by Oct. 13 for home collection service
Due to an overwhelming response from Glendale residents, the Glendale Sanitation Division once again will offer residents the ability to safely dispose unwanted household hazardous waste with its home collection service Monday, Oct. 16, to Friday, Nov. 3.
First Come, First Served
The first 750 residents can sign up for the service by calling the Sanitation Division from Oct. 2-13. Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
“Due to the success of the previous household hazardous waste event that was held in spring, the city of Glendale decided to add a second collection in the year,” said Solid Waste Superintendent Bill Sterling. “Approximately 11 tons of materials were collected and properly disposed of during the April ’06 event.”
What We’ll Take
Hazardous materials that will be accepted include:
- paints and stains

Items that are unacceptable are:

Limits
There is a 20-gallon limit on paint, oil, gasoline, antifreeze and other automotive liquids. No single container may be larger than 5 gallons. All items should be in their original containers and must be clearly marked to identify their contents.
