Applications to attend fall sessions of Glendale University and Glendale's HOA Academy due in September
Did you ever wonder how a city operates day-to-day and how you can participate in the process?
Glendale University is the place for residents to learn first-hand how city officials wrestle with complex issues, while continuing to provide necessary services. The fall series of Glendale University includes 10 classes scheduled between Sept. 11 and Nov. 13 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at a variety of city locations. Class size is limited to 30 individuals and there is no fee thanks to a sponsorship from Cox Communications.
In order to graduate from the course, students must attend at least eight of the 10 classes. Each class will highlight a key function of the city including, but not limited to, finance, public works, code compliance, library services and public safety.
Since the city began Glendale University in 1997, more than 500 residents have graduated from this program. Participants also learn about the roles of city officials and how to become involved in their community.

HOA Training
Want to learn how to more effectively serve on the board of your homeowners association or learn more about the operations of homeowners’ associations in general? Then plan to attend the next session of Glendale’s Homeowners’ Association (HOA) Academy.
Applications are available now and must be submitted by Sept. 18.
The eight-session educational program is open to all Glendale HOA board members and residents who want to learn more about the operations of HOAs. Industry professionals, including lawyers, certified public accountants and management company specialists, teach this informative course.
Topics for each of the eight sessions vary, which allows busy residents to attend the entire series or select sessions relating to their interest. A review of HOA law in Arizona is also part of the course.
HOA classes will be on Thursday evenings between 6 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday mornings between 9 to 11:30 a.m. The courses being on Oct. 7 and ends on Oct. 28.
