Water Smarts
July is Smart Irrigation Month, and the city of Glendale’s water conservation experts are encouraging residents to celebrate with efficient water use
To raise awareness of the benefits of smart irrigation practices, the Irrigation Association has named July Smart Irrigation Month, and the city of Glendale is reminding residents to adopt efficient watering practices.
Automatic sprinklers offer convenience and control in protecting your landscape investment. Sprinkler systems help you to enjoy your yard and keep it healthy and beautiful. However, most homeowners tend to overwater their lawn or waste water through inefficient habits. Adopting water-savvy habits not only helps reduce this waste, it saves money while promoting a healthier lawn and landscape. These habits are essential to maintaining and extending your community’s water supply, especially during peak use.
When to Watch That Water
“Most over watering occurs between late July through November,” says Jo Miller, Glendale’s water conservation program manager. “People tend to overcompensate when hot weather arrives and then forget to adjust water frequency in the fall.”
Seasonal adjustment of irrigation timers will result in a healthier lawn and landscape, in addition to conserving water. Plus, reducing your consumption will help reduce your water bill.
The Glendale Water Conservation Office offers free classes and advice for homeowners.
