Water and Sewer Update!

Adjustments to Glendale’s water and sewer rates begin in October

Beginning in October, residents’ water and sewer rates will be adjusted. The rate changes equate to an additional 22 cents a day or just $6.57 more a month for the average customer.

The adjustment will help fund the replacement cost of critical utilities infrastructure. These include the replacement of aging water and wastewater lines; improvements to existing water and wastewater facilities; and implementation of security enhancements. All of these projects have seen dramatic increases in construction costs, consistent with the current local and national construction trends.

In comparison to other Valley cities, Glendale’s rates will continue to fall in the middle range.

Glendale is currently working on these projects to ensure safe, reliable water that meets the community’s growing water demand:

  • Construction of Oasis Water campus and the expansion of Pyramid Peak Water Treatment plant;
  • Replacing pipes in the water distribution system, which will minimize water leaks;
  • Replacing pipes in the sewer collection system, which will minimize sewer spills;
  • Responding to sewer odor complaints by constructing sewer/odor control stations;
  • Improving security at water and wastewater treatment facilities.
