Walk This Way
Great places to take a stroll in Glendale
They say the best type of exercise is walking, and if you live in Glendale you’re in luck because the city has some great trails on which you can get in that morning or evening walk.
But before you embark on your journey, you might want to consider some of these helpful hints:
- Carry and drink plenty of water.
- Carry a cellular phone if you have one.
- Carry a large comb or pliers to remove cholla cactus spines.
And if you’d like to bring your pet, remember these simple rules:
- Pets must be on a leash no longer than 6-feet in length.
- You must pick up after your pet.
- Don’t let your pet chase after wildlife.
Where to Walk
Now that you’re ready for some exercise, here are some great trails to check out.
- Thunderbird Paseo Park: This 4-mile paved trail runs along the Arizona Canal from 51st Avenue and Cactus Road to 73rd Avenue and Greenway Road.
- Grand Canal Linear Park: This 3.25-mile paved and lighted trail runs along the Grand Canal from 75th Avenue and Camelback Road to 97th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.
- Skunk Creek Linear Park: This 3.5-mile trail runs along Skunk Creek from 51st and Utopia to 73rd Avenue and Paradise.
- Thunderbird Conservation Park: Thunderbird Park is a desert conservation park that has more than 20 miles of trails. It’s located on 59th Avenue just north of Deer Valley Road.
