A Doggone on Good Time
Glendale offers great places to let your pooch get some exercise
Let’s face it – most dogs would be thrilled to be able to run and play on a ranch all day. But since the majority of dog owners don’t live on a ranch, the city of Glendale offers the next best thing – dog parks.
Glendale has two dog parks, and they’re both pretty ‘doggone’ perfect for any four-legged barking friend.
- Sahuaro Ranch Park, 63rd Avenue and Mountain View Road. This facility has an off-leash area that’s just north of the west parking lot and just south of the softball complex.
- Foothills Park, 57th Avenue and Union Hills Drive. It has an off-leash area that’s northeast of the softball complex and can be accessed from the Foothills Library parking lot.
Play Nice
Just as there are rules for humans visiting public parks, there are also rules for our furry friends in their public parks. Here are the general rules for the city’s dog parks:
- Children younger than 13 must be with an adult.
- Pick up your dog’s waste.
- Aggressive dogs are not allowed.
- All dogs must be licensed and vaccinated and must wear their ID and permit tags.
- All dogs must be with their owners.
- Only three dogs per visit.
- Dogs must be leashed while entering and exiting the park.
- Any damage to the park must be repaired immediately.
- Female dogs in heat are not allowed in the park.
- No dog treats or food are allowed in the park.
