City of Glendale - News All That Jazz
Sweet sounds abound at the Glendale Jazz and Blues Festival
Spring’s cool breezes mix with blue notes and cool sounds this month as Historic Downtown gears up for the annual Glendale Jazz & Blues Festival, presented by APS. The music takes over downtown’s Murphy Park from April 21-23.
Beyond the Tunes
The Glendale Jazz & Blues Festival is more than music. The event will feature more than a dozen food concession stops, cold beverages, 40 craft artisans and wine tasting complete with collectible glasses.
Those with a creative flair will want to stop by the Party Hats Pavilion, located on the west side of the park, to make a free Mardi Gras-style hat.
The Sweet and Low Down
The event opens on Friday evening from 5-10 p.m., continues on Saturday from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission and parking are free. The festival is presented by APS, and sponsored by The Arizona Republic, Budweiser, KTVK-Channel 3, Kokopelli Winery and Princeton Resorts Group. For more information, call (623) 930-2299. And remember,
no coolers please.
The festival has always showcased the best local jazz and blues musicians and this year, to mix it up, out-of-state entertainers will be part of the stellar lineup, as well. Phat Phunktion, out of Madison, Wisc., is scheduled to perform Saturday night.
