Ready, Set, ‘GO Program’

Residents’ input sought on Glendale’s Onboard Transportation Program

Residents are invited to attend two upcoming events to get an update on transportation projects included in the Glendale Onboard (GO) Transportation Program. These opportunities will give residents a chance to speak with Glendale transportation representatives, learn more about current and upcoming transportation projects the city has planned and provide input on the program.

  • The first event was a Transportation Fair held in conjunction with the Glendale Family Bike Ride on Sunday, April 9th. The Transportation Fair will take place from 7-11 a.m. at the Sahuaro Ranch Park soccer field, 59th Avenue and Mountain View Road.

  • The second event is the 5th annual GO Program open house, which will be held from 4:30-7:30 pm, Wednesday, April 19th at the Glendale Civic Center, 57th Avenue and Glenn Drive.

Both events will be in an open house format, allowing the public to attend at their convenience.

GO History

A little more than four years ago, Glendale voters approved Proposition 402, which dedicated a half-cent sales tax for transportation improvements and created the city’s GO Transportation Program. Several of the projects funded through the GO Transportation Program will be highlighted in the 2006 annual brochure, soon to be received by Glendale residents.

Considerable progress has been made in expanding transit services, enhancing traffic flow and safety on Glendale streets and at intersections, and further developing bicycle and pedestrian facilities throughout the city. Many additional improvements are scheduled for construction during the next two years. These projects will be featured at both public events and in the annual brochure.

Residents are encouraged to attend one or both of these events. For more information on Glendale’s transportation program, leave a message on the transportation information line at (602) 648-2417, or log onto the City’s web site at www.glendaleaz.com/transportation/goprogram.cfm.
