What It Takes

Sign up now for Glendale’s Citizen Police Academy

Ever wonder if you have what it takes to join Glendale’s finest? Find out for yourself at the Citizen Police Academy.

The Glendale Police Department is preparing for its next Citizen Police Academy—an extensive program where participants get to see and feel many aspects of the department as well as the operations of law enforcement.

The 11-week program covers a variety of topics, including:

  • Overview of the department’s history and organizational structure
  • Community oriented policing
  • Crime scene investigation
  • Police driving techniques
  • Use of canines
  • Firearms, explosives and tactical operations
  • Volunteer opportunities

When and Where

Classes meet every Wednesday at 7 p.m. and run approximately three hours, with the first class set for April 5. Participants must be at least 18 years of age and will undergo a background check. Applications are required and must be submitted by March 1. CLICK HERE for an application.
