City of Glendale youths send Valentine’s Day wishes to Luke Air Force Base troops

Recently more than 900 Valentines were collected to share with deployed Luke Air Force Base Troops and other persons serving in the Armed Forces with them.

As a boost to our troops’ morale and as a show of community support for their service, the city of Glendale gathered the Valentines. The sentimental tribute to the soldiers was coordinated by the Community Service Group, which includes the Parks and Recreation, Community Partnerships and Library departments. Other city departments were encouraged to submit their greetings as well.

Children who participate in the city’s GRASP (Glendale’s Recreation After-School Program) provided hand-made greetings for the service personnel. GRASP is a free, supervised, drop-in recreation program for Glendale youth, kindergarten through 8th grade. Trained staff members in each of the six locations provide a variety of fun and educational programs including study time, indoor/outdoor activities, clubs, games, field trips, mini tournaments and guest speakers.
