Kid-Friendly Contests

Art, poetry and signage design all part of fun competitions for Glendale youths in the coming weeks

Are your children bursting with art and writing talent? Well, the city of Glendale has a few contests coming up that might be right up their allies. Check out these fun community competitions coming up from the city’s Sanitation Department and Libraries.

2nd Annual Design-A-Sign Contest

Children ages 6-9 are invited to enter the 2nd Annual Design-A-Sign contest. Winners will have their artwork displayed on the side of Glendale sanitation trucks. All artwork submitted must incorporate the theme: Recycling Is Fun.

Artwork must be submitted on 8 ½-inch-by-11-inch paper and received by Friday, March 17. Entries will be judged for:

  • Creativity
  • Use of color
  • Relevance to theme
  • Adherence to contest rules

The entry forms were included in the Clean & Green newsletter that was mailed to all single-family households in January. Can’t locate your copy? No problem, just CLICK HERE to print an entry form.

All participants will receive a certificate of recognition and a recycled-content prize. Four winners will be selected, one per age group, and winners will be notified in April. This contest is open to Glendale residents only. One entry per child.

For more information, contact the Sanitation Division at 623-930-2660.
