Glendale, AZ - Office of the Mayor

This cross section of the USS Arizona’s flagpole was removed from the ship in 1991. The flagpole had been attached to the remnants of the mainmast of the sunken battleship that was struck down during the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. The piece was given to the Mayor in honor of the dedication of the Veterans Memorial at the Glendale Main Library.
