Mayor Scruggs and Tempe Mayor Hugh Hallman

January 2, 2006 marked the 35th and final Fiesta Bowl game to be played at Sun Devil Stadium. 

Tempe Mayor Hugh Hallman officially handed the ball to Glendale Mayor Elaine Scruggs with his best wishes for future success.   

Glendale will host its first Fiesta Bowl in January 2007 at the new state-of-the-art Cardinals Stadium, which is scheduled to open August 2006.  Glendale will also host their first BCS National Championship Game in 2007. It will be the first time a city hosts three bowl games, with the Insight Bowl, Tostitos Fiesta Bowl and BCS National Championship game, all scheduled within a two-week timeframe.
