Mayor Elaine Scruggs Elected Vice President of the League of Arizona Cities and Towns
Mayor Elaine Scruggs was named vice president of the League of Arizona Cities and Towns in July 2000. As vice president, Scruggs was charged with establishing and directing collaborative municipal policy initiatives and representing the state’s 87 cities and towns at the state and federal government level.
“It’s truly an honor to be appointed to this position by elected officials throughout Arizona and serve in this leadership role,” Scruggs said. “While cities and towns have their own unique needs, there are many common issues that all small and large communities face. I look forward to the challenge of working with mayors and council members from throughout Arizona to how best address those issues.”
Founded in 1937, the League of Arizona Cities and Towns provides a variety of services and programs to communities, such as public policy development at the state and federal government level, hosting conferences and forums and providing technological assistance, research and training.
