STEM @ the Library Junior Explorers Rockin' Roller Coasters. Children ages 5 to 7 years old are invited to join us as we explore the concepts of gravity, motion, and energy while experimenting with marbles and tubes to design and test a roller-coaster they build themselves. Purposeful Play. Interested in socialization, creative play, and stimulating brain development for your little one? Join Ms. Gabby, a family educator for Benevilla Family Resource Center, to learn why and how to play with your child to maximize brain and skill development. Lego Mania! Come and build Lego masterpieces with us! Kids ages 5 to 12 are invited to explore the world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) with Legos at the Glendale Main Library! STEM @ the Library: Catapult Wars! You build. You battle. Beware! Marshmallows incoming! At this teens only event, work in teams to build the best DIY catapult. E-Book Lab. Drop into the lab for help with your eReader questions, including Axis 360, Greater Phoenix Digital Library and Zinio. Library staff will be on hand to offer assistance, and an assortment of the most popular readers/tablets will be available for you to explore. Bring your own device for specific advice. Summer Fizzy Fun! Join us for some fizzy fun! Come and experiment with some everyday household ingredients from the pantry in this STEM @the Library program for 7 to 11 year olds. Each participant will leave with their own booklet of the experiments. We might get a little messy, so don’t wear your best clothes! Registration opens 7/2. Monday, July 14, 2:00-3:15 PM. Venomous Creatures of the Desert. Presented by Michael Quinlan, Ph.D. of Midwestern University. The desert is home to many venomous animals, including vertebrates (snakes) and invertebrates (scorpions, Africanized honeybees). Dr. Quinlan will discuss the natural history and urban ecology of some of these creatures. Tuesday, July 15, 5:00 PM. Roadrunner Room.

STEM @ the Library: NASA's Best! Challenger Space Center brings NASA'S BEST (Beginning Engineering, Science, Technology) to the Library. Join us for exciting hands-on activities and lots of fun. For ages 7 to 11 years old. Registration required. Wednesday, July 09, 2:00-3:00 PM.

Robot Ambassador: Paper Electronics. This paper electronics workshop by Eric Ose, the Robot Ambassador, is a hands-on experience that combines paper craft and electronics with the focus on adding and controlling lights. You can also add sounds, motion, and sensors to paper electronic projects. Appropriate for teens and adults. Registration required. Saturday, July 12, 2:00-4:30 PM. City of Glendale Employee Lounge.
