Be sure you live in Maricopa County

The Glendale Public Library system participates in the Maricopa County Library District Reciprocal Borrowing program. This means that any resident of Maricopa County can apply for a Glendale Public Library card. A non-resident fee is charged if you live outside of Maricopa County as you will not have been assessed the county library tax which funds the reiprocal borrowing program.

Learn about your responsibilities

Having a library card gives you access to tremendous resources, but with it comes some responsibility. Be sure you know the ins and outs of borrowing materials, renewing materials and what to do if your card is lost or stolen. The few minutes it takes to check out these simple rules could save you time and money later!

Visit the library and choose your card

You can visit any of our library locations to register for a library card. Valid photo identification and proof of address are required for all new library cards. If the address and phone number associated with your library card account card should change, please notify us as soon as possible. The address and phone number associated with your library card account will be verified yearly. The card will expire if we cannot verify your current address.

The card will be assigned a four-digit PIN for placing holds, renewing materials, and using a computer. This is usually the last four digits of the cardholder's telephone number, but may be changed upon request.

Children 13 and under must have a parent or legal guardian present. Students 14-17 can apply without a parent or guardian present. Parents/guardians will be notified by mail that the card has been issued to the student.
