GLENDALE, Ariz.– A journalist turned mystery writer, Scottsdale-resident Betty Webb will be at Velma Teague Branch Library at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Apr. 26. She will be discussing her fifth Lena Jones novel, “Desert Cut.”
As part of the Authors @ the Teague series, Webb will be on hand to talk about her writing and sign books.
Webb’s protagonist, Scottsdale private detective Lena Jones, a “scrappy, workaholic,” had a tough beginning. According to Webb, the character came to her one night in a dream. The dream seems more a nightmare with Lena losing her parents, getting shot, being put in foster care, being starved and raped, becoming a cop, then a P.I. and searching for her parents.
In “Desert Cut,” Jones is scouting movie locations in southern Arizona when she comes across the mutilated body of a young black girl. She is determined to find out what happened to her. During her quest for answers, two more girls disappear. Is it child abuse or something more?
Webb’s books will be available for purchase at the program. No reservations are necessary. For more information, call 623-930-3431.
