Affordable Care Act - How it might affect you
Health Insurance

The Affordable Care Act has created new requirements for health insurance. If you do not have minimum essential health insurance coverage in 2014, you might have to pay a fee starting with your 2015 tax return.

How, where, and when to purchase health insurance coverage

Healthcare.gov is the new health insurance market. October 1, 2013 - March 31, 2014 is the open enrollment period to buy health insurance from various private companies, often at a discounted rate, from Healthcare.gov. You must have an email address in order to buy insurance from Healthcare.gov. If you have coverage through your employer, Medicare, Medicaid, or other qualifying sources, you do not need to purchase a plan.

How the Market Works
