Downtown Mural Designated an official Arizona Centennial Legacy Project by the Arizona Historical Advisory Commission
On April 24th, 2012 the city received notification that the mural project , “El Corrido de Glendale” has been designated an official Arizona Centennial Legacy Project by the Arizona Historical Advisory Commission (AHAC), pursuant to the rights and responsibilities assigned to the that commission by the Arizona Legislature, and we are still awaiting the arrival of the Certificate.
Our project was selected based on the adherence to criteria that the city portrayed a significant aspect of Arizona history; that it is accessible to large numbers of visitors; demonstrated collaborati0n in the planning; produced a project that will last through 2015 with an educational component; and that it included a plan for implementation. The mural currently resides in historic downtown Glendale for public viewing.
The city of Glendale is honored to have the Arizona Historical advisory Commission designate, “El Corrido de Glendale” as a project that shows a piece of Arizona’s history (www.azcentennial.gov). This is a great addition to our newly developed Centerline District in historic downtown Glendale. |
