Trends - A Look at What’s Hot in Glendale

Our neighborhoods.
Glendale is home to some of the most desired zip codes in the West. While premier neighborhoods such as Arrowhead Ranch have developed an identity of family tradition and a lifestyle of luxury, other communities radiate a unique character that is all their own. Urban professionals, young academics, growing families and retirees looking for a luxury home base for relaxation or adventures are all at home here. And with many inviting amenities already in place—from top-rated parks shaded by mature trees and a well-planned network of freeways and roads to libraries, high-performing schools and wide range of unique shopping opportunities—new residential projects in Glendale have nothing but potential.

Our freeways.
Since its opening in 2000, Loop 101 has evolved into the corridor for large retail and major employment centers in the Valley. Easily accessed from all corners of the metropolis, Loop 101 businesses instantly appeal to the region’s growing, well-educated workforce. A lifeline to the fastest-growing area in Arizona, as well as a vital link to the regional freeway system, Loop 101’s businesses also boast the advantage of drawing consumers from nearby Scottsdale and Phoenix.
Once a two-lane farm road, Loop 303 is now surrounded by upscale housing developments, including the acclaimed Verrado, which boasts million-dollar views from one of the state’s most pristine mountain ranges. Less than 10 miles west of Loop 101, this developing, high-traffic freeway serves as the major route to the rest of the Valley for a growing western population. Able to host major retail centers and office space, the roadway is a prime focus of the Valley’s regional transportation plan and is set to become one of the most heavily used freeways in the state within the next decade.

Our City Center.
With a palette of mixed-use and retail opportunities, Glendale’s City Center core is an ideal setting for fine restaurants, boutiques and specialty grocery stores. The future home of a Vanguard CityHome upscale loft community—the city’s first urban village that will feature 90 loft homes, retail and entertainment venues—downtown boasts the dream combination of tourists and 24-hour energy. A slate of popular annual events attended by millions, artsy boutiques and some of the nation’s best antique shops round out this evolving historic city center. Listen close, and you can hear the sounds of nightclub jazz, farmer’s market chatter and patio dining romance that’s stirring in its near future.

Our Grand Avenue.
Work on this major West Valley roadway is nearly complete, and the end result will be a welcome alternative route into the downtown City Center from the Northwest Valley’s farthest corners. Offering even easier access to some of Glendale’s more established business communities, this diagonal road—which comes complete with bridges and tunnels through what were once six-way intersections—has opened up new crossroads begging for employer and employee caffeine stops, sandwich shops and more.

Our airport.
Certainly, our city’s municipal airport is an easy drive from a number of West Valley freeways. But even better, this 477-acre airpark is just a jaunt through the jet stream from major Southwest cities such as Denver, Las Vegas, San Diego and Los Angeles. A recent expansion of the airport’s runway clears the path for additional corporate jet traffic. Boasting a variety of modern airport amenities, including an 18,000-square-foot terminal, spacious hangers and corporate meeting space, Glendale Municipal Airport offers the ability expand your business’s borders.
