Midwestern University is developing a doctor of optometry program with plans to open the program on its Glendale campus in the fall of 2009. It will be the only optometry program in Arizona and one of only 18 in the country.

The Centerline project is geared toward redevelopment of the Glendale Avenue corridor, from 43rd to 67th avenues, between Ocotillo and Myrtle. Private business investment, job creation, and improved infrastructure are the main goals of the project.

Located on 51 acres in the heart of the sports and entertainment district, the Zanjero project will feature a variety of restaurants, retail stores, condominiums, and 396,000 sf of Class A office space. The area will be made up of park-like settings and a charming downtown main street. Housing 2,000, the luxury condos and cozy townhouses will be built on the north end of the project.
