Neighbors living in Chaparral Country Estates have newly updated streetscape along the east side of 83rd Avenue from Maryland to Ocotillo Road as the result of a neighborhood grant of $7,200.
The Citizen’s Advisory Commission on Neighborhoods awarded the funds to the neighborhood. The grant provided upgrades to landscaping, irrigation and two wall monuments.
The neighbors were recognized by Council member Joyce Clark, Yucca District, for their efforts to improve their neighborhood during a dedication on Thursday, June 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the corner of 83rd Avenue and Tuckey Lane.
Chaparral Country Estates is a registered neighborhood, located between Ocotillo Road and Maryland Avenue, and 79th to 83rd avenues. It lists 300 households in the neighborhood, which was constructed in 1986.
The Neighborhood Partnership Office administers a grant program that funds revitalization projects twice a year to assist neighborhoods more than 15 years old. Citizen participation and involvement are key components of the program.
