Time to Nominate for the 2008 Neighborhood Spark Awards
Nominate a “Spark” in your neighborhood! The Spark awards program was created in 2000 by the Citizens’ Advisory Commission on Neighborhoods to recognize neighborhoods, neighborhood leaders, businesses, faith-based organizations and/or community groups who have made a significant contribution to the betterment of Glendale’s neighborhoods. If you know of an individual or organization who is the “spark” in your neighborhood, nominate them for a 2008 Neighborhood Spark Award. Nominations are being accepted through May 15, 2008.
How to Nominate
Submit your nomination to the Neighborhood Partnership Office, 6829 N. 58th Drive, Suite 100, Glendale, AZ 85301, or via e-mail at: leadership@glendaleaz.com. For other questions, call the office at 623-930-2868.
Who is a Spark?
These people are the “Sparks” of each neighborhood. Sparks create a vision of what their neighborhood is or should be, and then go about organizing resources to accomplish this vision. More directly, these individuals are willing to spend personal time and resources to improve the area in which they live or do business, seek out answers to important issues or questions, solve problems, and ensure that the overall quality of life is maintained or even improved.
Those selected for this very special award will be celebrated by the Commission on Neighborhoods at the 2008 Neighborhood Leadership Forum, which will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at 8 a.m. at the Glendale Civic Center, 5750 W. Glenn Drive, Glendale, AZ 85301. Join us for the annual 2008 Leadership Forum focusing on issues affecting our community. This year’s theme is “Connecting With Your Community: It’s Our Time to Shine.”
