Protecting Glendale’s
Neighborhoods
 Over the years, Glendale residents have enjoyed the security of healthy and stable neighborhoods. However, as neighborhoods age conditions that contribute to blight and deterioration can become problematic.
Blighted or deteriorated neighborhoods have been found to have a detrimental impact on health and safety, quality of life, and the livability of neighborhoods.
Violations of city codes are a source of blight and deterioration. By ridding neighborhoods of code violations, pride in ownership and property values can be maintained.
Neighborhood Focus
Program (NFP)
In an effort to protect Glendale’s neighborhoods from the negative impact of blight and deterioration the Neighborhood Focus Program (NFP) was established. The NFP is a concentrated compliance effort and was developed to be an ongoing cooperative effort between the city and residents.
The intent of the NFP is to systematically identify and eliminate code violations that contribute to blight and deterioration in residential areas of the City.

How It Works
The first step in determining a focus area is for NFP code inspectors to conduct a systematic inspection of the neighborhood. Through the initial inspection city code violations are documented at all residences within the focus area.
Residents are notified in writing of any violations that are found to exist on their property and a timeframe for compliance is established.
When the initial phase of the program is completed, NFP inspectors will periodically return to the neighborhood to ensure continued compliance.
Assistance Available
Where a need is established, such as financial or physical hardship, assistance may be available. Assistance programs only apply to owner-occupied residential property.
Additionally, large roll-off trash containers may be available free of charge to assist with organized neighborhood cleanups. Specific criteria must be met before containers will be provided.
Your Responsibility
The city strives to work with all residents to ensure the best outcome, which is compliance with city codes, but you have the final responsibility to correct any violations identified on your property. By being aware of established community standards and maintaining your property to those standards, you will help to ensure that Glendale and your neighborhood is a safe, attractive and desirable place to live.
