Due to the breakdown of contract negotiations with one of the city of Phoenix transit service operators, Veolia Transportation Services (VTS), on its union collective bargaining agreements, city of Glendale bus service may be impacted as early as the beginning of February; however, Glendale’s Dial-a-ride and neighborhood circulator, Gus Bus, will not be affected. Transit riders can get the most updated information through the service disruption website or by calling Valley Metro’s customer service line at 602-253-5000.

Glendale contracts most of its fixed-route bus service with the city of Phoenix through an annual intergovernmental agreement.

If bus service disruption should occur, VTS is contractually obligated to provide 60 percent of current service; however, there may be a gap of time in which no service is provided. As soon as possible, contingency plans based on 30 percent, 45 percent and 60 percent of current service will be put into effect depending on the resources available. Under the 60 percent plan, Veolia-operated routes will run the Sunday schedule found in the Transit Book or online at ValleyMetro.org: local bus routes 0, 1, 7, 8, 10, 12, 15, 16, 19, 27, 35, 39, 44, 50, 52. 60, 70, 80, 90, 106, 122, 138, 154, 170, and 186.

Bus routes not affected include express routes 573 (Loop 101), 575 (Loop 101) and the Grand Avenue Limited.

Residents without alternative transportation or unable to use transit service at the reduced levels on the affected routes are encouraged to carpool or vanpool. In addition residents can go to www.valleymetro.org or call (602) 253-5000 to check the schedules of non-affected bus routes - passengers may be able to use an alternative route.

Glendale will continue to provide the utmost customer service with its in-house transit services, including its neighborhood circulator, the Gus Bus and Dial-a-Ride, which are not affected by the strike.
